Applying for a Job

For detailed instructions on how to apply for a JobLink job, select How to Apply from the Job Details page. The How to Apply page displays for that job posting. The instructions for applying vary based on the employer's preference.

The following are some examples:

  • By email, phone, fax, or mail
  • Through local American Job Centers
  • In person
  • Through the company's website
  • Employers may not consider you if you apply through methods other than those listed.

Email Resume

If an employer has selected that they will accept applications via email, you can send a link to your resume to the employer. (Sending a link ensures that the employer must log in to view your full resume details, which protects your privacy.)

  1. From the job posting, select How to Apply. The How to Apply page displays, the job title at the top of the page.
  2. Email is listed as a method of application. You can copy their email address to contact them directly from your own email, or you can select Email JobLink Resume to Employer to send the employer an email through JobLink.
  3. Select Email JobLink Resume to Employer. A drop-down field displays with a list of all your active resumes.
  4. Select the resume you wish to send, and select Continue. The Email Resume page displays, with the job title listed at the top of the page.
  5. Edit the text if you desire. When you are satisfied, select Send Email. The Email Resume page reloads, displaying a confirmation message and the text of the email you sent.
  6. Select Return to Search Results to search for other jobs, or select Return to Job Posting to return to the job details.

Referral Instructions

Some job postings may request job referrals.

  1. If a job posting requests a referral, select Referral Instructions. The How to Apply page displays for that job posting.
  2. Read the instructions. If you want an American Job Center staff member to review your resume and refer you to the job, select Request Job Referral. If the staff member decides you are an appropriate fit for the position, they will send your resume to the employer and they will email you, as well.
